How A Misadventure Took Me to A Better Place

If there's one place in Korea that I'd never get tired of going to, it's Seokchon lake. If you're coming from the city proper like Myeongdong or Dongdaemun, you'd have to take a long commute but, it's so worth it.

Let me tell you about the day we went to Seokchon lake. It wasn't actually the original plan that day because what's in our agenda was to go to Jinhae Cherry Blossoms Festival but our unmindful selves thought we're scheduled to tour at Nami Island and should assemble at the meeting place by 6am. We arrived on time for the Nami tour but, one hour late on the supposed original tour of the day, thus, we missed it.

So to not make our day useless, I gave my friend an option between going to Seokchon lake or go cafe-hopping. Since Seokchon is far from the city, we decided to go for the latter.

When we're already down to two stations of the subway, the idea of aren't we traveling long enough already and why do we have too many station transfers kicks in. Lo and behold, we're already heading to Seokchon instead of the cafe. Hay! Good job us!

We're frustrated because of the missed tour; we're tired because we're up so early and we've traveled far but when we saw Seokchon, all of the negative feelings faded.

We did a lot of walking, wandering and the likes. Good thing I was wearing these pair of boots from Rosegal. They totally saved me!

The luscious pink trees welcomed us. The morning was calm and the weather was just good. But what really took me was the perfectly lined up trees in the curve of the lake, just what's in the pictures; just what I imagined. I was in awe to see its astounding beauty.

If only we live nearby, I would run there every morning or even just chill on the bench while having a good read of a YA novel. As I wander through Seokchon lake, I saw many Filipinos who are busy being a tourist just as I was. I enjoyed watching different kinds of people there, the grumpy, happy, excited and in-love ones.

To be honest, I wouldn't have this day the other way around. I'd rather be here than at the Jinhae Cherry Blossoms Festival.

The lake is full of love. It is full of life. No wonder why the magic of Seokchon is still within me. At the end of the day, I realized, all the misfortune and misadventures we had, we are having or will have, it will still lead us to something better. It will surprise us in the most unexpected way. No matter how worse your day is, it could turn out better than what you think it would be.
