Let's Get Intimate

While there's nothing wrong with keeping our exterior body parts well-maintained, let us not forget that there's something inside us that also needs attention. So, is there anything that we, women, need to learn about health and wellness? Apparently, yes.

Before you read on, this is not about sexual intercourse as the title could have suggested but this is about the expression of our femininity—the vagina. I know, most of you already cringed just by reading the V-word because it's a taboo subject. Can't blame you on that, girl but the fact that it is part of us and is the most significant element in a woman's body, we have to discuss it one way or the other.

It's not surprising that many women keep mum about how they feel down there. Why? Because of fearembarrassment and misconception. Let's face it, most women visit their OB-GYNE for a sole purpose: pregnancy. Women need to realize that they also need to make time for their well-being down there.

If the vagina is unhealthy, it could lead to bacterial infection and urinary tract infection (UTI).

That's why, Feminine Wellness Advocates embarked on a campaign to raise awareness on the holistic perspective of female wellness with the ultimate aim of redefining the overall concept of a healthy woman.

They promote what they call the V-Restore or the science of the most intimate makeover.

What is it?

It's a procedure that restores, revitalizes, and renews women's intimate area. It provides a safe and painless solution for addressing intimate dysfunctions brought about by ageing that result to vaginal dryness, loss of vaginal tone and reduced vaginal secretion.

It also targets functional impairment resulting in urinary incontinence even with just coughing, laughing, sneezing or straining; and vaginal laxity or looseness brought about by pregnancy and childbirth.

It also attends to aesthetic imperfections such as discoloration and saggy vulvar labia skin.

V-Restore Benefits

Aside from improving aesthetic and sexual satisfaction, it also benefits women with conditions like:

Pelvic Floor Disorder (PFD)
Bladder problems
Vaginal prolapse after hysterectomy
Tears in vaginal connective tissues
Weakened pelvic muscles
Issues after childbirth
Uneven, hanging, large or wrinkled labia minora
Odor and hygiene problems
Pain and discomfort caused by sports and physical activities
Decreased sensation during sexual intercourse

How is it done?

There are two options: surgical and non-surgical procedures.

SURGICAL
Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation (LVR)
It enhances the vaginal muscle tone, strength, and control. It decreases the internal and external vaginal diameters as well as builds up and strengthens perineal body. The result will be a pre-pregnant, post-virginal state of the vagina.

Designer Laser Vaginoplasty
This is the aesthetic surgical enhancement of the vulvar structures, labia minora, labia majora, mons pubis, perineum and introitus. The procedure is for women who have normal sexual functions but want to feel attractive and younger vaginally.

NON-SURGICAL
Thermiva or Temperature-Controlled  Radiofrequency (RF) Procedure
This is the first non-surgical and non-invasive United States FDA-approved radio frequency treatment that helps revive and restore loose skin, loose vaginal wall, dry vuvla and dry vagina, loose mucosa, loss of sensitivity, and fascial support. The treatment is basically a comfortable massage of warm heat over the genital area.

Thermiva enhances tightening of the skin and stimulates new and tighter collagen remodelling. By this, there is increased blood flow to the labia and clitoris. Thereby increasing sensitivity and help improve orgasmic activity.

Who can undergo the procedure?

Girls as early as six years old can undergo the procedure. In fact, a six-year old girl had already undergone the said procedure.

Who performs the procedure?

Dr. Anabelle D. Aherrera
She is a well-known doctor with more than 28 years of practice in Obstetrics and Gynecology specialization in the Philippines' premier medical institutions namely Makati Medical Center and The Medical City.

She trained under the pioneers of the surgical and non-surgical aesthetic vaginal gynecology and cosmetic vulvovaginal procedures in the U.S. Thus, she has pioneered the "Science of the Most Intimate Makeover" vaginal rejuvenation in the Philippines since 2007.

Below are the women, aged 21 to 64, who have tried the V-Restore procedure. Each of them has different purpose, some health concerns and some for aesthetic reasons. These women proudly shared their experience on the successful procedure.

When it comes to the V-word, we don't have to be ashamed talking about it. Let's try not to avoid it because like I said above, it's the expression of our femininity.
