Under the canopy of trees lies a bed and breakfast facility that also functions as a school for young boys and girls, some are fishermen's kids, who play their violins.
This place is called CASA San Miguel, owned by the world renowned violinist Coke Bolipata. It serves as his home and a community center that includes a school for the arts and music, art gallery and museum, cafe and a bed and breakfast facility.
THE ROOM
The rooms are designed with classic style giving you a mix of old and modern Filipino home experience. Our room has high ceilings which make it more breezy. And one thing that surprised me is how affordable CASA's rooms are compared to other hotels and bed breakfast facilities in town.
Our room has a huge window where we can view the garden and the Backstage cafe. It also has a porch where we can sit and relax.
BACKSTAGE CAFE
If there's one place in Zambales that will give you a rich gastronomic experience, CASA San Miguel's Backstage Cafe is the best spot. I loved everything that was served to us. Their pizzas are really something! Their breakfast, one meal you shouldn't miss while you're there.
And last but not the least, their famous carbonara. I've read so many good reviews about it so I got curious how it tastes. Lo and behold, the news is true. CASA's carbonara is one of the bests I've ever tasted. It satiates your appetite with its rich and creamy flavor which will not get you fed-up. They also have different varieties of carbonara. During our stay, we had the classic carbonara with bacon bits and carbonara with tuyo. Both pastas are mouthwatering.
Apart from building a bed and breakfast facilitiy and cafe, the owner also built a foundation. So proceeds from the cafe helps fund Coke's advocacy in helping his scholars. Since the 1990's, Coke has been helping the underprivileged kids in town to fulfill their dreams and learn about music. This is his way of giving back, thus, the birth of his program Playing it Forward.
One corner of the gallery has a display of the children's artworks
This is where the concert takes place
Overall, my stay at CASA made me feel at home. The staff is very accommodating, the place is cozy, the food is great and the advocacy and story of CASA is definitely worth-sharing.
How to get to CASA San Miguel: From Manila, ride a Victory Liner bus to Iba, Zambales and alight in front of San Antonio Public Market (3-4 hours). Then take a tricycle to Casa San Miguel.
CASA San Miguel is located at Evangelista St., Brgy. San Miguel, San Antonio, Zambales.

If you're heading to Disneyland, you're probably wondering what to wear to the happiest place on earth looking stylish without sacrificing comfort. In this article, I will share with you some tips on what you should wear to Disneyland.
Shoes
First and foremost, remember that you'll be walking A LOT. Be sure to wear a pair of shoes that you are comfortable for a long day of walking. Here, I wore my Nike white sneakers and paired it with pink socks to keep it not boring. You can never go wrong with a pair of sneakers but if you're adventurous enough and want to look like extra, wear ankle boots with block heels. In this way, you'd be more stylish but comfortable at the same time.
Bag
Now for the bag, I suggest you bring a crossbody style bag or backpack. This will keep your hands free so you’re not weighed down. Choosing a crossbody bag means you won't have to carry around a heavy tote.
Accessories
Since Disneyland is mostly an open area, you may want to bring some protection from the extreme outdoor heat like an umbrella or a hat.
Mickey Ears
And if you want to get into the spirit of things, don’t forget to visit the souvenir shop for some Mickey ears. You know what they say, you're in Disneyland if everyone wants to look like Mickey or Minnie Mouse. Besides, your Disneyland experience wouldn't be complete without it.
Have you been to Disneyland? How was your experience?

Actually, I don't know. No one can tell you what will happen if you take the leap or not but what I know is that no matter what happens, you will learn.
Every decision leads to different lessons. Lessons that could lead you to what could have been missing all along to be where you want to be. It's important to choose wholeness over perfection. You will not be able to do things perfectly but you will be able to do things honestly.
But know this, even if you are doing what you love, there will still be moments that you will struggle. But it's in those moments of struggle where you'll realize the value of your work and the hard work you invested. It may not be your best work but it's part of the great story of your life.
The truth is, there is no way of knowing if you are going to fail or succeed but you can choose to believe that in the same way, neither success nor failure defines your worth, it does not define you.
So take the leap no matter where it brings you because for sure, at the end of the day, you will gain something.

They say Hong Kong has the same climate as the Philippines, only in a higher level. If it's hot here, it's hotter there.
So I made sure before landing in Hong Kong, I'm wearing the right outfit to get me through the day. On our first day, the weather forecast has been accurate—it's more humid there than in Manila. Good thing I wore this red tank top and a high-waist pants to walk comfortably.
And if you would notice, I'm wearing a pair of heels here and you might ask Is she out of her mind? Traveling in heels? Is that even possible? Oh I tell you, this pair is more comfortable than any other flat shoes! In fact, I've used this a lot already. These posts are proofs!
But what I like most
It's really sleek, chic and lightweight. It matches my outfit here but it can be paired with almost everything!
Here's a tip, when traveling, bring things that are versatile or you think you can pair with any outfit to avoid packing so much.

I have an oily and acne-prone skin so I'm always on the lookout for what skincare routine suits me best. One of the options would be doing a facial but haven't tried before because, as what I've heard from almost everyone, it's painful.
But because in this day and age, tiis-ganda is life, I have to do it to take good care of my skin. And there, I had my very first facial experience at Skin House Beauty and Laser Clinic.
When I entered their clinic, I was amused at their chic, cozy, homey and welcoming interior. I felt at ease already and that's when I knew I was in good hands.
Okay, so let's talk about the treatment. First, they cleansed my face and massaged it for minutes. They then left me and have my face steamed to open my pores for the real deal here—extracting the blackheads and whiteheads.
That's when the pain started. It hurts while pricking, squeezing and extracting the blackheads and whiteheads. But the pain is bearable and I didn't cry. Okay, I'm telling you this because most people I know who are facial regulars said the process will make you cry. Perhaps, Ate Jen, who did my facial have gentle and light hands.
Part of the treatment also was the Diamond Peel and 24 Karat Gold Mask. For the diamond peel, the treatment will deeply cleanse and exfoliate your skin. This is pain-free!
And my most favorite part of the whole facial experience was the 24K gold mask! I felt so relaxed the whole time, during and after the mask experience.
The results won't show yet after the first session but trust me, after the whole process this day, I felt like I have a smooth skin and all the dirt from years were gone.
You may visit them at 2/F 8006 Pioneer Centre, Corner United St., Brgy. Kapitolyo, Pasig. They also have a branch at Quezon City.

If you want to add a pop of color and make femininity your style, pastel is a great choice. From blush pinks and sorbet blues to anything soft hues, wearing pastels give lightness and elegance to any look. Timeless pastel clothes are a great investment since they will never go out of style.
If you want to cop a pastel OOTD, I've rounded up three (3) ways on how to wear pastels.
Monochrome
Choose one color and stick with it. But make sure to not overdo it.
Mix Pastels in One
Pastels go well with other pastels. Wearing two or more pastel colors at the same time will establish a calm, warm, and relaxed look. Here, aside from my pastel pink dress, I used a blush pink bag from Kate Spade and a pair of nude heels. This is the right way on how to wear pastels.
Mix a Bold Color
If you aren’t prepared to go full out with a pastel OOTD, mix small pops of color into your attire. In this case, I wore a pair of teal flower earrings from Make Me Blush. It gives a subtle edge and bold statement to your outfit.

It's officially summer and what better way to spend it than to chilla at the beach? But wait, before you head out and bake yourself under the sun, be sure to protect your precious skin, girl.
Sure some of us love to get those tan lines. They look sexy, I know but basking yourself out there without any protection leaves your skin and health at risk! So make sure to apply the right sunscreen.
Recently, I discovered the newest addition to the Belo SunExpert Essentials—the Whitening Sunscreen—through Sample Room PH, which by the way has the nicest items!
So, let's get through this product.
What it promises
- Niacinamide and Brightening Essence lighten skin tone with regular usage.
- SPF 50 and PA++ ensure broad spectrum protection against harmful UV rays.
- Cell Protect strengthens skin’s defense against premature skin aging.
- Non-sticky and lightweight. Water resistant. Works as soon as you apply it.
- Paraben-free. Non-comedogenic. Hypoallergenic. Dermatologist-tested.
Impressions
- True to its promise, the Belo SunExpert Sunscreen is non-sticky and lightweight. I've been using the same brand of sunscreen for the longest time because it gives me what I'm looking for but now, I think Belo is giving my trusted brand a run for their money.
- It works like magic! When I went to the beach at 3pm, I forgot to apply sunscreen before heading out. I used the sunscreen 15 minutes before dipping into the water and after hours of soaking myself under the sun, lo and behold, uneven skin tone is nowhere to be found.
- Though after using this for a week, I haven't seen any whitening results, yet.
- But all in all, I would still recommend it.
- Rating: 9/10
